A Pacemaker Self-Contained in the Heart

If you're experiencing heart arrhythmia (mixed electrical signals) or a slow heart rate, you may need a pacemaker. The Micra® pacemaker is different from conventional pacemakers because the device does not require pacing leads or an external pocket (in the chest) in which to place the device.

The Micra lead-less pacemaker is placed directly into the heart (not adjacent) and through a thin catheter inserted into a vein in the groin. It's completely self-contained within the heart. The procedure does not require an incision in the chest and typically does not create a scar or bump under the skin.

  • Safe for MRI scanners

The Micra can be used in patients of any age but is particularly suited for seniors in frail health.
